Elektroprivreda Crne Gore AD Nikšic (NEXM:EPCG) is a vertically integrated power company of Montenegro. Majority of shares is owned by the government.[1] The second largest shareholder is the Italian utility A2A by 43.7% of shares.[2] Rest of the shares is traded at the Montenegro Stock Exchange and NEX Stock Exchange under symbol EPCG.[3]
Elektroprivreda Crne Gore owns two large (Perućica and Piva) and seven small hydroelectric power plants, and one coal-fired thermal plant (Pljevlja). The Perućica hydroelectric power plant as a capacity of 307 MW and the Piva hydroelectric power plant has a capacity of 342 MW.[2] The Pljevlja Thermal Plant has a capacity of 210 MW.[4]
In 2007, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore and Italian transmission system operator Terna announced a plan to build a 300 kilometres (190 mi) long submarine cable between Italy and Montenegro.[5]
